What happened
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) foiled an attempted illegal export of methamphetamine from India to Saudi Arabia using Nava Sheva Port. DRI reported an intelligence-led operation during 16–17.08.2026 that recovered around 56 kg methamphetamine in powdery form from an export consignment bound for Saudi Arabia.
DRI reported that the contraband was concealed by mixing methamphetamine with maize in one export consignment containing 351 bags, with the consignment disguised as an ordinary agricultural commodity to reduce chances of routine detection.
DRI’s swift investigation identified the exporter and the transporter/freight forwarder. DRI reported that the transporter/freight forwarder coordinated with an overseas buyer for transportation and customs clearance of the export consignment.
Based on the roles described by DRI, DRI arrested both the exporter and the transporter/freight forwarder under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
