What happened: MoFAH&D review meeting on the Tilapia cluster in Chhattisgarh

Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, Secretary, Department of Fisheries, MoFAH&D, Government of India chaired an interactive meeting in Raipur, Chhattisgarh on 20 August 2026 to review progress of the Tilapia cluster notified under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).

The meeting was held in hybrid mode and brought together more than 1,300 Tilapia fish farmers and value chain stakeholders, along with officials from the Department of Fisheries and the State fisheries department, representatives of notified fisheries clusters, scientists from ICAR fisheries institutes, and representatives from National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Mahila/Minority? (not mentioned), MPEDA, NABARD, fisheries cooperatives and seafood exporters.

The Union Secretary interacted directly with fish farmers, entrepreneurs and exporters to understand on-ground gaps and challenges for strengthening Tilapia production, processing and exports in Chhattisgarh.
