What happened: AIKosh workshop under the IndiaAI Mission

A workshop on AIKosh, described by the IndiaAI Mission as a national platform for datasets, AI models, and related resources, was organised at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi on 21 August 2026. Representatives from Government, industry, academia, and the startup ecosystem participated to deliberate on measures to unlock the value of India’s data for Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Key session flow and official participation included: a welcome address by Shri Mohammed Y. Safirulla K, Director, IndiaAI Mission; opening remarks by Shri Sudeep Shrivastava, COO, IndiaAI Mission; and remarks by Shri Saurabh Vijay, CEO, IndiaAI Mission, on “Data as National Wealth: India’s Imperative for Sovereign AI”. The workshop was formally inaugurated by Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).

A presentation titled “Overview of AIKosh: Present and Future Perspective” was delivered jointly by Ms. Shikha Dahiya, Joint Director, IndiaAI Mission, and Shri Swadeep Singh, General Manager, Data Science, IndiaAI Mission. A plenary set of remarks was delivered by Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
