What happened (H1N1 preparedness review)
Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda reviewed prevailing conditions and preparedness for H1N1 influenza across India, with special focus on the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The review covered national surveillance and epidemiological situation, influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) trends, testing and laboratory surveillance, and healthcare facility preparedness to manage seasonal influenza cases.

The meeting reviewed Delhi healthcare facility readiness, including availability of hospital beds, critical care facilities, oxygen-supported beds, ventilators, essential medicines, diagnostics, and other critical supplies. JP Nadda stressed adequate surge capacity and seamless referral mechanisms, especially for patients needing specialised or critical care.
