What happened at the India–Japan Startup Roundtable (Tokyo)

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal highlighted India’s growing startup ecosystem and proposed an India–Japan cooperation framework at the India–Japan Startup Roundtable held in Tokyo on 27 August 2026.

Shri Piyush Goyal stated that nearly 250,000 startups were established in India over the last decade.

Ambassador Nagma Mohamed Mallick welcomed participants and described India–Japan startup engagement through the India–Japan Pitching Series.

Ambassador Nagma Mohamed Mallick stated that the India–Japan Pitching Series connected 65 Indian startups with around 100 Japanese corporations and facilitated more than 30 business tie-ups.

Ambassador Nagma Mohamed Mallick also noted a 222-member Indian business delegation for partnership-building across the two innovation ecosystems.
