What happened
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Darwin Dynamics LLP. The MoU aims to strengthen entrepreneurship development and expand the Startup India ecosystem across India.
The partnership’s stated goals include expanding the reach of Startup India to Tier II, Tier III and rural regions and supporting startups through mentorship, institutional networks, market opportunities and capacity building. The MoU also names structured programmes such as startup outreach, entrepreneurship bootcamps and mentor network development.
Background and earlier position
Startup India is a national initiative intended to encourage new startups and strengthen the startup ecosystem in India. Ecosystem building often relies on government departments working with implementation partners to run awareness, mentoring, outreach and market-linking programmes, including region-focused efforts beyond metropolitan areas.
