What happened: NFSC fellowship enabled a PhD completion and a research job
PIB highlighted the case of Shri Mallela Pruthvi Raju, an SC-III scholar, who overcame severe financial hardship and continued doctoral research with support under the National Fellowship for Scheduled Caste Students (NFSC) Scheme. PIB stated that the fellowship became his “sole lifeline,” helping him cover academic, research, and basic living expenses while he pursued a PhD and built a path into scientific research.

According to PIB, Shri Raju received NFSC fellowship assistance for a five-year period from December 2019 to December 2024. The fellowship amounts changed across research stages:
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): ₹37,000 per monthSenior Research Fellowship (SRF): ₹42,000 per month
