What happened (custodial death and chargesheet)
CB-CID filed a chargesheet in the custodial death case of Scheduled Caste youth Akash Delison. The chargesheet described a murder case registered against six police personnel, including a police inspector, and names them as accused.
Akash Delison was from Krishnarajapuram in Sivaganga district. He was arrested on 5 March in connection with a dispute case in Manamadurai, where two people were hacked. He was taken to Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital with injuries and later died there.
Police initially said injuries occurred after a fall from a bridge during an escape attempt. Akash Delison’s relatives alleged police assault and held continuous protests after his death.
