What happened
Safdarjung Hospital said an independent expert from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences recommended urgent medical treatment for Sonam Wangchuk after prolonged fasting caused signs of dehydration. The hospital said Wangchuk was conscious and stable, but required immediate oral or intravenous fluids and electrolytes to prevent deterioration and serious complications.
The hospital bulletin also said an All India Institute of Medical Sciences doctor joined the treating team for continuous monitoring. Wangchuk reportedly refused intravenous fluids, oral rehydration solution, and medication despite repeated counselling.
