What happened
A joint operation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Manipur Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) arrested two accused in the abduction and killing of six Liangmai Naga civilians in Manipur.
The two accused were identified as Lungoulal Vaiphei and Lunminthang Sitlhou. They were arrested from Lei lon Vaiphei and Molhoi village respectively, in the Leimakhong area of Kuki-dominated Kangpokpi district.
Background and earlier position
The case began after the mutilated bodies of six civilians were recovered on 10 June. The first arrests named in the case came later, when investigators detained Pradip and his wife Ayingbi alias Mangaih on 10 July.
The six civilians were among a larger group of 48 abducted persons — 28 Kukis and 20 Nagas — after unidentified gunmen ambushed and killed three Thadou community church leaders in Kangpokpi district on 13 May.
