What happened: Kharge seeks action over alleged “shuddhikaran havan” at Haldwani rally venue
Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge raised a controversy in the Rajya Sabha seeking action against people allegedly responsible for a ritual described as “purification” at the public ground in Haldwani, Uttarakhand. Kharge linked the episode to a political storm and said he was deeply hurt.
The reported dates in the controversy were: 8 August for Kharge’s rally and 10 August for a reported “shuddhikaran havan (purification ritual)” at the same site by members of the Shri Ram Sena.
