What happened
Karnataka’s ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has flagged more than 47 lakh voters for possible deletion. The Chief Electoral Officer for Karnataka, V. Anbu Kumar, said the flagged electors make up 8.48% of the state’s electorate and were identified during house-to-house verification started on June 30.
The Chief Electoral Officer said Booth Level Officers (BLOs) identified the electors under the ASDDO categories: Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate (Already Enrolled), and Others. The state has 5,54,32,314 electors on the rolls.

Electoral roll revision is meant to keep voter lists accurate by removing ineligible entries and preserving eligible electors. In such exercises, field verification is followed by scrutiny before any deletion from the final roll.
