A suspected improvised explosive device blast in Nagaland’s Chumoukedima district killed one Assam Rifles jawan and injured four other personnel. The incident is important for UPSC because it fits the internal security syllabus, especially insurgency-related violence in the North East and the protection of paramilitary convoys.
Officials said the vehicle convoy was returning to Dimapur after noon on Monday when the explosion occurred near Sukhovi. One injured personnel was reported to be in critical condition.
The Assam Rifles identified the deceased jawan as Havil d ar Mohd. Iqbal and posted condolences on X. Chomoukedima’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Nikho Venuh, said a bomb disposal squad was sent to determine the type of blast and officials did not rule out a targeted attack on the paramilitary force.
