Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the BJP government in West Bengal is putting its “Sonar Bangla” promise into practice through a new ₹700-crore Amul dairy project at Sankrail in Howrah. The project is being presented as an industrial and agricultural value-chain investment, with political messaging around governance, security, and economic change in the state.
The announcement also linked the project to dairy farmers, milk processing, and new industrial capacity in eastern India. Shah said discussions covered governance and security, including steps to stop infiltration, strengthen law and order, and improve women’s safety.
