The Department of Fisheries has said that seafood export infrastructure is being strengthened through the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF). The policy focus is on processing units, cold chain systems, and export facilities, all of which matter for value addition and market access in the fisheries sector.
What the Department of Fisheries has stated
The Department of Fisheries, Government of India, said that projects worth ₹21,394.88 crore have been approved under PMMSY for the fisheries and aquaculture sector, including projects for export infrastructure. The Department of Fisheries also said that the Central share in these approved projects is ₹9,510.89 crore.
The Department of Fisheries further said that infrastructure support has been augmented through FIDF, under which 18 major projects with a total project cost of ₹345.89 crore have been supported, mainly for expansion and modernization of fish processing plants.

Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana is the flagship fisheries scheme of the Government of India. It was launched in 2020 to promote sustainable and responsible development of the fisheries sector, improve fish production and productivity, and build the post-harvest and cold-chain ecosystem.
