What happened
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has reported progress on the Common Services Centres (CSC) project for rural e-services. The project is implemented through CSC e-Governance Services India Limited (CSC SPV) and is meant to deliver public services in an assisted mode at the village level.
The release says the CSC network is being expanded up to the Gram Panchayat level across India. It also states that more than 800 citizen-centric services are being delivered through CSCs.
Background and earlier position
Common Services Centres are part of India’s wider e-governance architecture. The policy logic is to create local access points where citizens can use digital public services in assisted mode instead of depending only on personal devices, digital literacy, or stable connectivity at home.
