What happened
The Ministry of Home Affairs has informed the Rajya Sabha that demands have been raised from time to time for inclusion of several Indian languages in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution, including Gor Boli. The Ministry has also stated that there are no fixed criteria for considering any language for inclusion in the Eighth Schedule.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, attempts to evolve such criteria through the Pahwa Committee and the Sitakant Mohapatra Committee remained inconclusive.

The Eighth Schedule is the constitutional list of recognized languages. Language inclusion has therefore remained a recurring political and cultural demand, especially for communities seeking greater official recognition for their mother tongue or dialect.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has said language evolution is dynamic and is influenced by socio-cultural, economic, and political developments. The government has also said that requests for inclusion must be examined with these sentiments and other relevant considerations in mind.
