What happened

The Chief Minister of Bihar, Samrat Choudhary, and the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Jayant Chaudhary, exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding for establishing the Skill India International Centre (SIIC) in Bihar.

The Memorandum of Understanding is between the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, and the Government of Bihar.

The SIIC is planned to be supported by an approximately ₹7 crore capital investment from the Government of India.

Background and earlier position

India’s skill development policy framework seeks to improve employability through training and certification-linked pathways. International employment preparation often requires additional readiness components such as language readiness, structured counselling, and pre-departure orientation to manage information asymmetry and reduce job-candidate mismatch.
