What happened (Ministry of Panchayati Raj, PIB communication)
The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (Government of India) issued a PIB communication providing state-wise totals of 16th Finance Commission grants for Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). The PIB communication presents PRI grant totals under three categories: tied grants, untied grants, and performance-linked grants.
The PIB communication also states a coverage rule: Finance Commission grants for rural local bodies are not recommended for Union Territories.
