What happened (West Bengal reporting under Revamped RGSA)
The Ministry of Panchayati Raj reported implementation of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme Revamped Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) in West Bengal. The reporting covered RGSA training for elected representatives and Panchayat functionaries, support for Panchayat infrastructure such as Gram Panchayat Bhawans and computers, and e-enablement indicators linked to the e-Panchayat Mission Mode Project (MMP).
Scheme objective and what it supports
Revamped RGSA aims to strengthen the capacity of Panchayati Raj institutions (PRIs) by imparting training to elected representatives (ERs), Panchayat functionaries, and other stakeholders. The training focus is on governance capability for effective functioning of Gram Panchayats and local bodies across States and Union Territories, including West Bengal.
Revamped RGSA also supports selected Panchayat infrastructure, including Gram Panchayat Bhawan construction and provision of computers. The scheme additionally supports limited-scale computer co-location in Gram Panchayat Bhawan for enabling Common Service Centres (CSCs).
