What happened: Viksit Bharat-G RAM G Yojana announcement for Rajasthan
The Ministry of Rural Development announced the Viksit Bharat-G RAM G Yojana and linked it to village-level development planning through gram panchayats. The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Chouhan stated that Rajasthan has been given an investment target of ₹12,000 crore over the next nine months under the initiative.
The announcement also included two panchayat-level delivery claims: Coverage claim: the initiative’s impact is expected to reach every gram panchayat.Spending claim: the initiative targets approximately ₹80 lakh annually for each gram panchayat.
Shri Chouhan further stated that village development priorities should not be decided in Delhi or Jaipur, and that people should decide development plans at the gram panchayat level.

In India’s rural governance system, gram panchayats are the local tier of Panchayati Raj. Rural development planning is generally expected to be done through local bodies, with Panchayati Raj Institutions guiding prioritisation and implementation at the village level, while higher levels coordinate resources and programmes.
