The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI) on 11 July 2026 under the Technology Development and Investment Promotion (TDIP) Scheme. The agreement is meant to deepen India’s participation in global telecom standardisation and support the Bharat 6G Mission.
The MoU is aimed at helping Indian startups, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), academia, and industry contribute more actively to global standards bodies. The official announcement also links the initiative to indigenous innovation, intellectual property creation, and India’s bid to become a leading contributor to next-generation telecom technologies.
What the MoU provides
The arrangement covers financial and logistical support for Indian participation in standard-setting work, including representation in 3GPP, International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and oneM2M.
It also extends support to TSDSI’s role as India’s telecom standards organisation and to its engagement with global standardisation platforms.
