What happened

The Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA), an industry and academia-led society, has expanded to 90 members as of 15 July 2026. The Alliance now covers telecom service providers, telecom equipment manufacturers, startups, research and development institutions, academia, and other telecom stakeholders.

The spectrum working group under the Bharat 6G Alliance has submitted a report titled “Spectrum Roadmap for 6G in India”. Separately, the Department of Telecommunications has released a Spectrum Roadmap for 6G services after consultation with stakeholders, including the Bharat 6G Alliance.

Background and earlier position

The Bharat 6G Alliance functions as a collaborative platform for industry, academia, startups, and research institutions. Its stated role is to strengthen the domestic research, innovation, and intellectual property rights ecosystem through industry-academia engagement, identification of technology gaps, and proposals for testbeds and advanced research aligned with India’s 6G vision.
