What happened
The Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, organised a Chintan Shivir at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi with export promotion councils and industry stakeholders to discuss India’s electronics manufacturing and export competitiveness.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Secretary, Department of Commerce, Shri Rajesh Agrawal; Special Secretary, Shri Suchindra Misra; Director General, Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Shri Lav Agarwal; and other government, state, and industry representatives.
Why it matters
India’s electronics sector is closely tied to industrial policy, trade facilitation, and participation in global value chains (GVCs). The consultation focused on moving India toward export-oriented manufacturing, not only domestic-market production.
