Background and context

India’s BRICS Chairship is guided by the theme Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability. Nitin Gadkari described the approach as people-centric and inspired by Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, meaning the world is one family.

The address placed transport within a broader development agenda: cleaner, safer, smarter and more efficient mobility; regional connectivity; and sustainable economic growth.
