The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority facilitated the first export of frozen French fries from Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand to Iraq. The shipment matters because it shows how value-added agricultural exports can expand beyond traditional raw commodities and create market opportunities for food processors in landlocked states.
The exported consignment was sent by Virun Global Trade Pvt. Ltd.. The exporter said product quality could support repeat orders and longer business relationships in overseas markets. That claim is a business expectation, not an already proven outcome.

APEDA functions under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and works on export promotion for scheduled agricultural and processed food products. Uttarakhand has a logistics disadvantage because it is a landlocked state, so transport cost becomes an important part of export competitiveness.
APEDA said it has supported the exporter through participation in international trade exhibitions such as SIAL, Gulfood, IndusFood and World Food India. Such platforms are used to reach foreign buyers and improve market access for processed food suppliers.
