The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India released Independent Drive Test (IDT) findings for Mumbai Licensed Service Area (LSA) after field tests conducted in June 2026. The findings matter because TRAI is publishing on-ground observations on mobile voice and data quality for consumer awareness and regulatory pressure.
The drive test covered a city route of 204.3 km and 7 hotspot locations in Mumbai city during 10 June 2026 to 12 June 2026. TRAI said the exercise was done under the supervision of the TRAI Regional Office Bengaluru and that the findings reflect performance on the specific route and time of testing.
What TRAI assessed
TRAI used SIM cards from all telecom service providers and tested live voice and data sessions over 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks. The exercise was designed to capture service quality in real-world conditions across city roads, hotspots, and public transport nodes.
The parameters assessed included coverage gap, call drop rate, call setup success rate, call silence instances, speech quality, and data performance indicators such as download throughput, upload throughput, latency, jitter, and packet drop rate.
