The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has added two citizen-facing digital services to the RajmargYatra mobile app: an online Local Pass facility and a digitally enabled MargMitra Help Centre. The change matters because it shifts toll-pass access and commuter assistance from manual, plaza-based processes to app-based service delivery.

What NHAI has introduced

NHAI says the new features are designed to support Digital India and Ease of Living for National Highway users. The Local Pass feature lets eligible commuters buy a toll pass digitally through the RajmargYatra app without visiting the toll plaza, while MargMitra works as a single-window help centre inside the same app.

Local Pass: what changed

Earlier, commuters had to visit the toll plaza physically and submit documents to prove eligibility for a local pass. NHAI says the new digital process can now be completed within a few minutes, using consent-based integration with government digital platforms.

The first digital local toll pass facility has been launched at the Mundka–Bakkarwala Toll Plaza on Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) in Delhi. NHAI says the facility will be rolled out at other toll plazas across the country in the coming months.
