The Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises has announced a PM Vishwakarma stall at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh. The airport stall is significant because it is the second operational PM Vishwakarma stall at an airport and gives traditional artisans direct access to travellers and premium footfall.
The stall supports the market-linkage component of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, which was launched in 2023 for traditional artisans and craftspeople engaged in 18 trades. The scheme combines recognition, skill training, modern toolkit support, collateral-free credit, digital transaction incentives, and market-linkage opportunities.
What happened now
According to the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, the Chandigarh airport stall was inaugurated on 14 July 2026. The stall has been set up with support from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and a Self-Help Group (SHG).
Three PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries from Chandigarh are operating the stall. The beneficiaries named by the Ministry are Shri Beju Tulsidas, a basket maker; Kumari Shaista Rani, a doll and toy maker; and Shri Rahul Kumar, a potter.
