What happened
The Ministry of Cooperation informed Lok Sabha about the implementation of the National Cooperation Policy, 2025. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said the policy was launched on 24 July 2025 and provides a 10-year roadmap for the systematic and holistic development of the cooperative sector.
The policy framework rests on 6 strategic pillars, 16 objectives, and 83 recommendations. The government has presented it as a sector-wide roadmap rather than a standalone subsidy programme, and the policy document does not envisage a specific budgetary allocation.
Background and earlier position
The government has also linked the policy to White Revolution 2.0, which is meant to expand cooperative coverage, improve market access, and support women’s empowerment and employment generation.
