What happened
The Ministry of Cooperation said that White Revolution 2.0 has expanded dairy cooperative coverage in Punjab. The ministry said that new dairy cooperative societies have been formed and existing dairy cooperatives have been strengthened to improve the cooperative dairy network.
As on 15 July 2026, Punjab had 1,027 newly registered dairy cooperative societies and 951 existing dairy cooperative societies strengthened, according to the ministry.
Why the development matters
Dairy cooperatives are a recurring UPSC theme because they link agriculture, animal husbandry, rural incomes, and cooperative institutions. Punjab’s expansion under White Revolution 2.0 is relevant as an implementation signal for organised milk procurement and cooperative strengthening in a major agricultural state.
