The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, has proposed Ayush OPDs and Ayush-based treatment services in all Military and Field Hospitals under the Ministry of Defence. The proposal is relevant for UPSC because it links traditional systems of medicine with defence healthcare delivery, preventive care, rehabilitation, and institutional health administration.
What happened
Shri Prataprao Jadhav wrote to Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh requesting consideration of the proposal. The Ministry of Ayush stated that it is ready to provide technical support, professional guidance, institutional cooperation, and a possible Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for implementation.
UPSC can frame the issue as a policy choice on whether Ayush services should complement modern medicine in institutional healthcare. The main angles are health-system integration, evidence-based service delivery, and the administrative feasibility of extending services across Military and Field Hospitals.
