The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has said that the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) support network has expanded across Legislative Houses, and that the NeVA Public Portal now gives citizens multilingual access to legislative business. What happened
According to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, NeVA Sewa Kendras or e-Facilitation Centres have been established in 22 Legislative Houses. The Ministry also said that the NeVA Public Portal is available in 23 languages and allows citizens to access Bills, Questions, Proceedings and other legislative documents.
Background and earlier position
NeVA is the National e-Vidhan Application, a digital platform meant to support legislative business and reduce dependence on paper-based procedures. The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has also been providing capacity-building support through orientation workshops and handholding for stakeholders in on-boarded legislatures, which indicates that the project is not only a software rollout but also an institutional transition.
