What happened: NeVA implementation expands across State/UT legislatures
The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs reported progress on the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) project for digitising State/UT legislative processes. A written reply in the Rajya Sabha by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. L. Murugan, stated that 33 out of 37 State/UT Legislatures signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for implementing NeVA. From these, 21 Legislative Houses have been transformed into digital Legislatures under the NeVA project.
Funding and support model for NeVA
UPSC can examine NeVA as an e-governance intervention in a constitutional function—law-making—where States are autonomous but implement digitisation through a centrally supported, consultation-based model.
