MHA establishes I4C and launches NCRP, CFCFRMS (1930) to strengthen cybercrime reporting, financial fraud response and inter-state coordination
Ministry of Home Affairs scales up India Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, cyber fraud reporting, and inter-state police coordination through I4C, NCRP, CFCFRMS, and allied modules
- State and Union Territory law enforcement agencies handle complaints, FIRs, chargesheets, arrests, and resolution under the law after reports are filed on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
- The Ministry of Home Affairs says the new standard operating procedure covers complaint processing, bank coordination, grievance redressal, lien removal, and restoration of defrauded funds.
- The Cyber Fraud Mitigation Centre at I4C brings together banks, financial intermediaries, payment aggregators, telecom service providers, IT intermediaries, and law enforcement agencies for immediate action.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has expanded India’s cybercrime response system through the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP), the Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System (CFCFRMS), and allied coordination tools. The policy value lies in faster reporting, quicker action on financial fraud, and stronger cooperation among police, banks, telecom service providers, and online intermediaries.
What existed earlier
The Ministry of Home Affairs said the I4C was created as an attached office to handle cyber crimes in a coordinated and comprehensive manner. The NCRP was launched to allow public reporting of cybercrime incidents, with special focus on crimes against women and children. The CFCFRMS was launched in 2021 to help victims report financial fraud quickly and to prevent further siphoning of funds.
