What happened (Tamil Nadu focus)
The Department of Fisheries, Government of India, reported centrally supported schemes and programmes for the holistic development of traditional fishermen and fish farmers in Tamil Nadu, with a focus on PMMSY and FIDF infrastructure, KCC-based credit, training and capacity building, and seaweed/mariculture-linked livelihood support.
PMMSY seaweed project in Ramanathapuram
The Department of Fisheries, Government of India, reported that PMMSY sanctioned a “Multipurpose Seaweed Park” project in Ramanathapuram at Rs. 127.71 crore, including seaweed multiplication in Hub-I Centre at Valamavur.
