What happened: DA&FW implements NBHM through National Bee Board with project-based beekeeping support
The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DA&FW) implements the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) as a Central Sector Scheme through the National Bee Board (NBB). NBHM aims to promote scientific beekeeping, increase honey and beehive product production, generate income and employment, and support livelihood security for farm and non-farm households.
NBHM support is delivered through project-based assistance to eligible Implementing Agencies (IAs). Project proposals are forwarded by Central/State nodal agencies for activities across the beekeeping value chain, including infrastructure, capacity building, technology demonstration, women-focused empowerment, and marketing and research support.

NBHM is designed as a Central Sector initiative, and the scheme description emphasizes that NBHM supplements the efforts of State Governments and other stakeholders.
