What happened: NAVYA expansion under PMKVY 4.0
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship announced that the Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls (NAVYA) programme will be expanded to 100 aspirational districts across India with effect from 27 May 2026. NAVYA is implemented under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 (PMKVY 4.0).
Government information states that NAVYA training has been delivered to 1,060 girls from 15 States/Union Territories so far, with state-wise numbers provided in an annexure. The programme model combines industry-relevant skill courses with embedded On-the-Job Training (OJT) and includes a mandatory holistic learning component for digital and career readiness.
How NAVYA is designed (programme components)
NAVYA aims to empower trained candidates to pursue diverse career pathways by providing industry-relevant skill courses with embedded On-the-Job Training (OJT). NAVYA also places special emphasis on training in futuristic job roles.
NAVYA includes a mandatory Holistic Development Module covering: digital literacy, financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship orientation.
