What happened: NABL launches accreditation for mobile food testing laboratories
The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), a constituent board of the Quality Council of India (QCI), launched India’s first Accreditation Scheme for Mobile Food Testing Laboratories under the Integrated Assessment Programme.
The launch was held at the “Gunvatta Samanvaya – A Multilateral MoU Exchange Ceremony” at Hotel Ashoka, New Delhi on 11 August 2026.
NABL presented the scheme as a way to expand access to reliable, quality-assured, and internationally benchmarked food testing closer to communities by extending accredited testing beyond conventional fixed laboratory settings.
The event also included a Multilateral MoU Exchange among participating organisations. The government linked the MoU exchange with regulatory convergence, coordinated assessments, and a more integrated and efficient quality infrastructure.
Officials who attended included the Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Shri Amardeep Singh Bhatia, along with senior officials from QCI and NABL, regulatory authorities, and commodity boards associated with the Integrated Assessment Framework (IAF).
