What happened
The Rajya Sabha Department-Related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture, headed by Shri Sanjay Kumar Jha, M.P., presented its 393rd Report titled “From Manuscript to Mission: Preserving, Mapping and Sustaining India’s Cultural Heritage in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” on 12 August 2026. The committee adopted the 393rd Report on 11 August 2026.
The 393rd Report provides recommendations on preserving, mapping, and sustaining India’s cultural heritage using Artificial Intelligence. The focus areas include digitisation quality, access and training governance, indexing and mapping, and reunification of dispersed and overseas manuscript holdings.
