What happened
The Supreme Court directed the Union government and the Madhya Pradesh government to comply fully with its earlier order on the Bhojshala-Kamal Maula Mosque complex. The Court had already asked the authorities to identify a separate open space nearby where Muslims could offer Friday namaz from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. as an interim arrangement.
The Court said the authorities were bound to implement the earlier directions in letter and spirit after it was informed that the site chosen by the administration was nearly two kilometres away. The Solicitor-General said the earmarked space was about 900 metres away.
