Tribal culture and language initiatives through EMRS Tribal Corners and Regional Language Teachers

What happened
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs stated that the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) Scheme includes measures to preserve and promote tribal culture, language, and traditional knowledge. The ministry said that Tribal Corners have been established in EMRSs to showcase tribal culture, traditions, art, crafts, and heritage.
The ministry also said that cultural programmes, meets, and workshops are organised in EMRSs so that students can learn about and celebrate the diverse tribal cultures and traditions of India. In addition, the ministry said that Regional Language Teachers have been recruited in EMRSs so that students can learn and preserve regional languages.
UPSC can frame the Eklavya Model Residential School Scheme as an example of social justice through education, with emphasis on preserving tribal identity, multilingual education, and the balance between mainstream schooling and local knowledge systems.
