What happened
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs stated that the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) Scheme includes measures to preserve and promote tribal culture, language, and traditional knowledge. The ministry said that Tribal Corners have been established in EMRSs to showcase tribal culture, traditions, art, crafts, and heritage.
The ministry also said that cultural programmes, meets, and workshops are organised in EMRSs so that students can learn about and celebrate the diverse tribal cultures and traditions of India. In addition, the ministry said that Regional Language Teachers have been recruited in EMRSs so that students can learn and preserve regional languages.

The EMRS Scheme is a residential schooling model for tribal students. The latest ministry statement places cultural preservation alongside formal schooling, which shows that tribal education is being treated not only as a literacy or access issue but also as a matter of identity, language, and transmission of knowledge across generations.
