What happened (government assistance and coverage)

The Ministry of Home Affairs released financial assistance of Rs. 132.93 crore under the Cyber Crime Prevention against Women and Children (CCPWC) Scheme to States and Union Territories. The released funds are meant for capacity building to improve handling of cyber crimes involving women and children.

MHA’s stated coverage areas under CCPWC include the following capacity-building measures:

Setting up of cyber forensic-cum-training laboratoriesHiring of junior cyber consultantsTraining of law enforcement agencies personnelTraining of public prosecutorsTraining of judicial officers

Under the government update, cyber forensic-cum-training laboratories have been commissioned in 33 States/UTs. MHA also stated that training has reached more than 24,600 law enforcement agencies personnel, judicial officers, and prosecutors on cyber crime awareness, investigation, and forensics.
