MPD-2047 sets out multiple planning and policy directions that connect land use, housing supply, and transport connectivity:

Affordable housing target (around 40 lakh units): MPD-2047 envisages development of around 40 lakh new affordable housing units to meet future housing requirements of Delhi. The plan links housing supply with redevelopment and planning for more liveable colonies. • Transit-Oriented Development (TOD): MPD-2047 incorporates a TOD policy to strengthen public transport corridors and support better-connected urban development. • Redevelopment framework via Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs): MPD-2047 states that Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) would be encouraged to register and adopt a redevelopment framework “on the lines of” the in-situ redevelopment policy, with the stated aim of planned redevelopment and improvement of existing residential areas. • Higher FAR and simplified norms for redevelopment and amenities: MPD-2047 mentions provisions for higher FAR to enable redevelopment opportunities, and simplified norms to facilitate expansion of urban amenities. • “Viksit Delhi” and “Viksit Bharat 2047” framing: MPD-2047 is presented as a roadmap to make Delhi inclusive, sustainable, resilient, and globally competitive, and also addresses needs across villages, unauthorised colonies, old residential colonies, and market areas. • Vertical growth and special hubs: MPD-2047 lays down a roadmap for vertical growth, transit-oriented development, and quality housing, along with development of knowledge, education, and medical hubs, and preservation of Delhi’s cultural heritage.
