TRAI has released Independent Drive Test (IDT) findings for Barmer, Balotra, Pachpadra and adjoining areas in Rajasthan LSA for tests conducted in June 2026. The report matters because it measures actual mobile network performance on the ground, not just operator claims, and is useful for assessing digital connectivity in a large and sparsely populated region.

What the drive test covered

The tests were conducted across Barmer, Balotra, Pachpadra city and adjoining areas in the Rajasthan LSA for information of general telecom consumers. TRAI said the purpose was to assess and verify real-time quality of mobile network services provided by Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) for both voice and data.

According to TRAI, the IDTs were designed to capture on-ground mobile network performance across diverse usage environments, including cities, hotspots and public transport hubs. Live data and voice sessions were established using SIM cards from all TSPs over 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks, and sessions were monitored and analysed in real time using advanced software systems.

How the test was conducted

TRAI, through its appointed agency, carried out drive tests across City drive (350.3 km) and Hotspot locations (7) during 1–2 June 2026 and 4 June 2026, under the supervision of the TRAI Regional Office, Jaipur. The observations in the report represent performance on the particular area and route on the day and time of testing.
