What happened

The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation has said that it monitors ongoing Central Sector Infrastructure Projects costing Rs. 150 crore and above through the online portal and web monitoring system Project Assessment Infrastructure Monitoring and Analytics for Nation-Building (PAIMANA). The Ministry said that Line Ministries, Departments, and implementing agencies update project information through application programming interfaces and data-entry mode.

The Ministry said that project-wise details of ongoing infrastructure projects are available in the Flash Report on the PAIMANA website. It also said that the portal supports rich data analytics, output-oriented reports, and customizable dashboards for apex-level monitoring.

Background and earlier position

Large public infrastructure projects in India have long faced delays because of land acquisition issues, forest, wildlife, and environmental clearances, law and order issues, utility shifting, and delays in civil work. The PAIMANA system is intended to support evidence-based monitoring of such projects through regular data updates and review by stakeholders.
