The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) has recognised NIIT Foundation as an Awarding Body (Dual). The recognition allows NIIT Foundation to directly conduct training, undertake assessments, and award NSQF-aligned certifications for approved qualifications across its pan-India network.
The update matters because it sits at the intersection of skill regulation, employability, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-linked vocational training. It also shows how NCVET is extending formal recognition to private skill institutions that can deliver approved qualifications within a regulated framework.
What changed now
NCVET and NIIT Foundation signed an agreement that gives NIIT Foundation the status of an Awarding Body (Dual). Under this recognition, NIIT Foundation can handle training, assessment, and certification for the qualifications approved by NCVET.
NCVET has approved two initial qualifications developed by NIIT Foundation:
Fundamentals of Digital Productivity with AI Tools at NSQF Level 3 focuses on workplace productivity, digital collaboration, data handling, workplace readiness, and AI-enabled workflow management.
