What happened: Ministry of Minority Affairs plans AI-enabled digital delivery under IndiaAI Mission

The Union Ministry of Minority Affairs stated that it will leverage digital technologies to improve transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness in the implementation and monitoring of its schemes and programmes. The Ministry also stated it will explore the use of emerging technologies—where appropriate—through collaboration with sovereign Artificial Intelligence (AI) companies under the broader framework of the IndiaAI Mission.

The Ministry highlighted citizen-centric digital service delivery examples such as AI-enabled multilingual chatbots, virtual assistance, and intelligent digital interfaces. The Ministry also linked AI-enabled digital approaches to areas relating to Haj services, mentioning the Haj Suvidha App, and other Ministry initiatives.

The Ministry stated that any use of such technologies will follow Government of India policy and applicable legal and regulatory provisions.

Background and earlier position: digital initiatives are part of scheme administration and monitoring

The Ministry described its digital initiatives as part of overall administration and monitoring of its schemes and programmes. In response to a Lok Sabha query, the Ministry stated that information with specific reference to AI Vision Centers for Minorities—such as applications, approvals, fund allocation, beneficiaries, and outcome assessment—is not maintained separately.
