What happened: multi-state crackdown against the Shahzad Bhatti Network (SBN) ahead of Independence Day
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced a coordinated multi-state security operation against the Pakistan-based, ISI-backed Shahzad Bhatti Network (SBN) ahead of Independence Day. MHA says the crackdown aimed to stop planned subversive actions and involved detentions, FIRs, arrests, and recoveries from SBN-linked activities.
As per the MHA announcement, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reported on X that the “Modi govt destroyed the ISI-backed terror group Shahzad Bhatti Network ahead of Independence Day” by arresting more than 200 operatives. The stated operation involved coordinated actions across different locations in 14 states.
MHA’s announcement attributes the operation to multi-agency security action with real-time intelligence sharing with State Police forces. Reported operational outputs include:
