What happened (STF allegations and arrests)

West Bengal’s Special Task Force (STF) said a terror suspect arrested on Friday, Hamim Mondal, had plans for subversive action during protests in Delhi connected to the Cockroach Janta Party.

STF officials stated that STF also arrested a co-accused, Arpita Sarkar, from Sahebganj in Jharkhand and moved her to Kolkata. STF officials alleged that Pakistani outfits sought help arranging a police uniform and infiltrating the student protest at Jantar Mantar to incite violence.

STF officials further alleged that Hamim Mondal targeted the Chief Minister and other politicians and police officers. STF described the alleged activities as brainwashing and radical propaganda and claimed links to a Pakistan-based gang and other terror organisations.

Police said they recovered gadgets and documents and were analysing bank transactions and encrypted messages. Hamim Mondal was produced in court and remanded for police custody. STF officials claimed Arpita Sarkar was used for honey-trapping and to facilitate an abduction attempt.
